**Key characteristics:** * LRPAP1 is a transmembrane protein that is expressed in the endoplasmic reticulum. * It is a member of the LDL receptor-related protein family. * It is a negative regulator of protein binding and receptor internalization. * It is significantly expressed in cells of the salivary gland, decidual cells, and immune cells. **Pathways and functions:** * LRPAP1 is a negative regulator of protein binding and receptor internalization. It does this by binding to the LDL receptor and preventing it from interacting with its ligands. This prevents the receptor from being internalized into the cell. * LRPAP1 is also a negative regulator of very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particle clearance. It does this by binding to VLDL particles and promoting their clearance from the bloodstream. * In addition to its role in protein binding and receptor internalization, LRPAP1 is also involved in the regulation of cell migration and invasion. **Clinical significance:** LRPAP1 is a potential therapeutic target for a variety of diseases. For example, it is a target for the treatment of amyloidosis, a rare disease that is characterized by the deposition of amyloid plaques in the brain and other organs. LRPAP1 is also a target for the treatment of cancer. It is a protein that is expressed on the surface of cancer cells, and it is known to promote cancer cell growth and survival.
